Quran Revision Tests for Hifz

Ayafy’s revision tests check what you actually remember, one ayah at a time. Each question shows you an ayah and asks you to recite the one that follows, or hides an ayah from the middle so you recite what is missing. Ayafy builds revisions for you as you learn, and you can make your own from any surah, juz or page range.

Ayafy revision test, question 1 of 14 on Al-Baqarah 2:5, asking you to recite the next ayah while the mic is listening

Step by step

How it works

  1. Open Learnings and go to the Revisions tab.

  2. Pick a revision Ayafy has made for you, or create a custom one.

  3. Read the ayah on screen, then hold the record button and recite what comes next.

  4. Release when you finish. Retry the question or skip it, then move on to the next.

What you get

  • Revisions are generated automatically as you memorize
  • Custom revisions from any surah, juz or page range
  • You choose how many questions a revision has
  • “Recite the next ayah” questions that show the full ayah first
  • “Fill the gap” questions that hide an ayah from the middle
  • Hold to record, release when you are done, retry any time
  • Question counter and a skip button, so a hard one never blocks you

Why testing yourself works better than re-reading

Most huffaz know the feeling of reading a page they “know” and nodding along, then freezing when they have to start an ayah from nothing. Recognizing the text is not the same as recalling it. A revision test makes you produce the next ayah yourself, which is the part that gets tested in a real recitation, in salah or in front of your teacher.

The two question types train different things. Reciting the next ayah checks that your ayahs are linked in the right order. Filling in a hidden ayah from the middle checks that you can pick up a passage when you are dropped into it, which is exactly what happens when an imam repeats a verse or you stumble and have to find your place.

Revisions you do not have to plan

As you learn new portions, Ayafy creates revisions for them, so the Revisions tab fills up without you keeping a schedule in your head. When you want something specific, such as Juz 29 before a weekend of taraweeh or the last ten pages you memorized, make a custom revision, pick the range and decide how many questions you want.

Revision Tests FAQ

What is a Quran revision test?

It is a short quiz made from what you have memorized. Ayafy shows you an ayah and asks you to recite the next one, or hides an ayah in the middle and asks you to recite it. Each question is a single ayah, so a test is quick to finish.

How do I answer a question?

Hold the record button, recite the ayah, and release when you are done. If it did not go well you can retry the question, or skip it and come back to that portion later.

Does Ayafy make revisions for me?

Yes. Revisions are generated automatically as you learn. You can also create a custom revision by choosing a surah, a juz or a range of pages, and setting how many questions you want.

Can I test only one surah or juz?

Yes. A custom revision can cover any surah, juz or page range, so you can focus on the portion you are worried about.

Is this the same as AI recitation review?

They work together but are not the same. Recitation review is a free-flowing session where you recite a page or more and Ayafy follows along. A revision test is a set of short questions that check recall ayah by ayah.

Are revision tests free?

Yes. Like everything else in Ayafy, revision tests are free.
