How people actually memorize with audio
Listening before reciting is how most of us learned the Quran, and it still works. Play an ayah on repeat until the rhythm is in your head, then try it without the audio. The repeat setting is for exactly this: pick a number, or set it to loop, and keep it running while you follow the text.
Slow it down if the pace is too quick for a new ayah, then bring it back to normal speed as it settles. Speeding up to 1.5x or 2x is useful in the other direction, when you are revising a portion you already know well and want to run through it quickly.

Audio starts the moment you tap play because it streams live. If you are often without signal, on a commute or somewhere with poor reception, download the surah once and it plays offline. Downloads can be cleared from the storage settings when you need the space.
